I came to know about PMP in 2006 when IIPM sponsored a Planning and Scheduling Competion "Simulo Constructo" in Indian Institute of Technology Madras (my Almamater) where I came First. I took training to earn 35 PDUs in 2008 with Astrowix. It was PMBOK 3 at that point of time. But didn't take the test. Later on while I was employed with CB Richard Ellis in 2015, I went through a Online Training Programme from University of Texas Dallas on a tailormade programme on Project Management for Building Construction Environment. It was based on PMBOK 4 back then. I earned 40 PDUs but didn't appear in Exam. Then in 2016, while I was with Sendan International LLC, KSA we underwent a Training sponsored by our Organization from Knowledge Square, KSA. It was PMBOK 5 at that point of time. I again earned 35 PDUs but dodn't appear in the Exam. I always thought that I know those stuff, I am using them in my day to day activities. Perhaps, I do not need a Certification. What's in a Certificate? Knowledge and Skills are Important. But I was wrong. I was actually procrastinating...maybe from the fear that, what if I don't make it. What will my Juniors think of me whom I had mentored? It was all in my mind. No body actually bothered. My Juniors got PMP and progressed in their life. Some said that I don't need it. I already had Masters in Construction Management from IIT Madras, Senior Management Programme from IIM Calcutta - But I didn't have PMP. This February someone quipped "You don't even have PMP?" - I realized, I should have had it it. Got PMI Membership and was planning to appear in PMP through self study. I don't know if I could have made it but going through the PMBOK 7, I found that it wasn't what I had learnt over years. It has so many things more that I don't know. I am deadsure that this time also I would have missed the bus. Maybe wouldn't have appeared. Just procrastinated as I have always done. It was then I came across Ideal Solutions. They offered a Boot Camp. Let me tell you that the Instructor Cephas Muchuchuti, PMP,PfMP is a wonderful teacher. Perhaps 15 years younger to me. But, he not only knows the subject but also knows drill the confidence in you. He made me appear in the exam on the day - the Bootcamp was completed.
